A Theological College like no other –
The interweaving of academic study with the monastic rhythm of life creates a uniquely holistic atmosphere in which to develop both as a person and as a future priest.
The patterns which are built up here, in terms of theological reflection, the life of prayer and focus on the community become habits of the heart which you will carry with you when you leave here. They will sustain you as you move into ministry, lending strength in difficult times and providing a gentle reminder of the need for humility in times of success.
Our focus on community and of serving one another also develops in our students a high sensitivity to the needs of others – an invaluable gift in every aspect of ministry.
“We commend the College for providing a formational context where students are enabled to deepen their sense of vocation through life and study”.

Testimonials and Feedback Received ……
“The students and community made us all feel so welcome and clearly worked so very hard preparing for Holy Week and all the hard work has paid off. I am so grateful for everything they have done. The great fellowship allowed me to make new friends and connections, the community and students welcomed us with open arms and the knowledge and experience is something I can take away and cherish forever. I left filled with God’s love and grace.
Hoping and praying that ordination is God’s plan for me, I would love to train at the CoR, if there were any doubts before, there certainly isn’t now and my stay during Holy Week has certainly secured it”.
“The offer of common life and monastic spirituality alongside a strong spirit of service, theological outlook and personal discipline is appealing to my calling.
In conversations I felt there is a concern and good support for individual flourishing in training. Experience from Holy Week (2024) gave an insight to the learning, community and life at the college, and when exploring the grounds felt the space and greenness to be healthy for mind body and spirit.
Thank you for accepting my application and am looking forward to being with you!”
“I was warmly welcomed on both my visits. It is aligned to the tradition in which I feel called to the priesthood. There is an emphasis on ‘formation’ in its broadest possible sense. The location is suitable for me. Quite simply, Mirfield offers something unique that I believe is of huge value and from which I can benefit”.
“My time at Mirfield opened a new appreciation for the Anglo-Catholic tradition within our church. The daily Eucharist, the sacramental depth of Holy Week liturgies, and the sense of being formed not only intellectually but spiritually together in community—all reflect the richness of the monastic tradition. This experience has broadened my understanding of the Church’s diversity and deepened my sense of what it means to live a life ordered around prayer, community, and sacrament.
I am deeply grateful to the Chichester Theological Trust for making this opportunity possible. Experiencing Holy Week at Mirfield has been both enriching and formative, and I will carry the insights and spiritual grounding I received at Mirfield with me as I continue to discern my vocation within the Church of England. I am also thankful for the opportunity to engage with the students, staff, and other guests; these conversations provided valuable insights which guide me as I continue to explore my calling”.
“I’m back, such a truly blessed experience. I was able find so much time to pause reflect and be still and know God! College of the Resurrection, Mirfield is such a welcoming community and thank you for including me! Aside from the joy, kindness and enthusiasm from ordinands, guests, lecturers and monks, I truly was blessed to know the real presence of God. What a wonderful place to celebrate the leading up to the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! Oh and the food was delicious!”
“CoR is a very attractive place to me for many reasons: it’s deep connection to the daily offices, the sense of community it fosters amongst its ordinands, it’s connections to community of the resurrection, its location, the campus and so on and so forth. However, when I visited back in October one comment from an ordinand stayed with me:
“Being at Mirfield is like being married to 18 other people”
It was clear that there is a deep love for each other amongst the community and for this reason and others I have chosen the college to be my home for the next three years as I’m formed to be ordained a deacon and priest in the Church”.
“The college has a wonderful reputation for its training and formation. CoR has been recommended to me by many people including bishops, priests and former students. I have visited the college on a good few occasions now including holy week and open days. I have grown very fond of the college, the staff and community and excited to begin the course which was explained to me on the open day.
I am overjoyed to have been given the opportunity to study at CoR because quite simply it is the best theological college out there in mine and the opinion of countless others”.
“I felt very much at home during my visit. The Warm and attentive hospitality offered matched that which I’d previously experienced at Mucknell Abbey. I was also struck by the enthusiasm among both students and staff. Many have advised that Mirfield is likely to be best suited for my formation and training and I can find no reason to disagree”
“Following the open day and the last days interviews and meetings with students, I feel confirmed in what those around me and my spiritual Director have said in that Mirfield would be the place I would find most formative, encouraging and beneficial. I stand to learn and gain a lot from the cycle of life, study and the monastery. As well as whatever mysteries and surprises God has in the works during my time with you.
I am excited by the difference and variety of people at Mirfield who are to be learned from and relationships to be built upon”.
I have chosen Mirfield for ordination training because:
- The discipline and rhythm of prayer life alongside the monastic community
- Experiencing worship at the college, particularly Evensong with the brethren and the Eucharist was particularly moving
- The college is clearly very hospitable in the sharing of meals with the whole family and no one batted and eyelid when the children were all a bit wild at lunchtime – My discernment involves my whole family and they felt very welcomed
- In terms of my priestly formation, this college is offering what I believe I really need and will respond well to.
…. I have decided to train at the college of the resurrection because I believe that it will be best form me for ordination whilst challenging and empowering me to further develop my understanding and relationship with God.
“I will be basking in the spiritual and physical food of Triduum for weeks to come methinks.
The most important thing of all was that at the end of it I felt God speak. I felt him calling me to press in deeper on my discernment journey, to keep going and that Mirfield would be a good ‘forming’ place for me.
I met with my vocations advisor this morning and we are working towards carousel 1 and what that will look like”.
