Dean of St George's College Jerusalem lectures at College

College Lecture, 30 November 2009
The Revd Dr Stephen Need, Dean of St George's College Jerusalem, gave a College Lecture on 30 November 2009. The title of his inspiring lecture was Living Faith in the Bible Lands: Politics and Scripture.
Dr Need spoke about a way of visiting the Holy Land which brings together prayer and education - as the land itself and the places of Christian pilgrimage provoke in us new prayers and new questions. He reflected, too, on ways in which an experience of the Holy Land changes our reading of the Scriptures. Finally, he led us in thinking about the interaction between Christian and Jewish faith and the contemporary politics of the Middle East.
The lecture was attended by thirty members of the College and fifty visitors from across a number of local Dioceses.
St. George's College Jerusalem is a centre for study and reflection, and is one of the Anglican Communion's leading continuing education colleges. It offers short courses throughout the year in a number of countries in the Middle East.
This event was the second in our series of College Lectures this academic year. It was jointly organized by the College, the Mirfield Centre, and the Diocese of Wakefield.
