Admissions
The College of the Resurrection offers a unique formative experience to ordinands and a world-class preparation for ministry. The College welcomes applications from ordinands and potential ordinands, as well as from lay students and clergy. We offer full-time courses and a range of part-time and flexible courses. We also offer sabbatical opportunities for those in Christian ministry.
Preparing for Ministry
The College prepares men and women for ministry as priests in the Church of England, in our sister Churches in the Anglican Communion, and in other Churches with which the Church of England is in full communion.
We also welcome applications from:
- those who are preparing for a wide diversity of lay ministries in parishes and in monastic life, including lay pioneer ministry; and
- those who wish to study for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in theology and pastoral studies.
Students at the College study both residentially and non-residentially, and a number of flexible academic and formational pathways are available to suit the needs of most candidates. These flexible pathways include the residential component of mixed-mode study and of intensive courses for ordinands.
Standing in our own open catholic tradition, we aim to provide programmes of formation which are accessible to ordinands from all traditions within the Anglican Communion, and which prepare students for ministry in a wide range of settings.
Postgraduate study and sabbaticals
In collaboration with our partners at the non-residential Yorkshire Ministry Course, we offer post-ordination training of curates.
We also welcome clergy and lay people who wish to study (part-time or full-time) at Masters or Doctoral level, or who would like to spend all or part of their sabbatical leave studying, praying and resting in the beautiful surroundings of the College and monastery.
Mirfield Liturgical Institute
The College’s Liturgical Institute recruits from an international base, and offers a variety of courses and qualifications, including a part-time or full-time Master’s Level qualification for those who wish to specialize in liturgical studies.
Exchange students
We are delighted to consider on a case-by-case basis applications for exchange programmes from ordinands in Churches with which the Church of England has ecumenical links.
How to apply
We normally invite potential students applying from inside the UK to visit the College overnight during term. This gives applicants an opportunity to worship with both the College community and the monastic community, and to gain some idea of life at the College. During your visit, you can meet tutorial staff and students, and will be able to see College facilities and to talk over the wide variety of options at the College.
If you are married or engaged, we encourage you to visit along with your family or fiancé(e) so that your decision about whether God is calling you to this place can be a joint one.
The easiest way to arrange a visit is to click on the link to the left of this page and make an online booking. Once we have received your online booking, we shall telephone you to confirm details of your visit. Alternatively, you can arrange a visit to the College by contacting the College Admissions Tutor through our enquiry form.
