Professional Development Route

If you’re already in employment and so can’t be a full-time student, the Professional Development Route at the College of the Resurrection offers a flexible way to engage in postgraduate theological study.

The Professional Development Route has been designed with particular regard to the needs of those serving as assistant curates, and is integrated with the IME 4-7 programmes in the dioceses of Wakefield, Bradford, Ripon & Leeds, York, and Sheffield.

3 programmes of study

There are 3 programmes of study for this route. They are all taught programmes, helping students to think theologically at postgraduate level and to relate their theological study to the life and ministry of the church, with a particular emphasis on the pastoral task:

The Postgraduate Certificate
Consists of 1 introductory taught module, followed by 1 taught module. The course is completed in 2 years of part-time study.

The Postgraduate Diploma
Consists of 1 introductory taught module, followed by 3 elective taught modules. The course requires 3 years of part-time study.

The MA programme
Consists of 1 introductory taught module, followed by 3 elective taught modules. There is also a dissertation, which allows an extended study of a topic of your own choice. The course requires 3.5 years’ part-time study.

Work through them all to an MA degree

Since the programmes build on one another, it is possible for you to begin by registering for the certificate, then building onto it with the diploma, and then finishing with the master’s degree.
